CPL/IFR Seminar 1: Attitude Flying

Why Attitude Flying?

  • Do you want to fly other aircraft types?

  • Do you want to continue to improve your skills?

  • How do you slow an A320?

  • What is an open loop pilot?

  • Do you let the airplane “fly itself”? Why or why not?

  • Does the feel of the aircraft help you fly? In what way?

  • You have no airspeed indication. How do you know if you get slow on approach?

  • How do you control airspeed?

  • How would you fly an approach with no airspeed indication?

  • What does a good approach look like?

  • How do you know how much control pressure/displacement to use, and when?

        • Would you use flight instruments? If yes, which ones, and why?

  • How do you change airspeed?

  • How long does it take?

  • What happens if you get distracted during that time?

  • What is feedback, or a feedback loop (boucle de rétroaction)?

  • What is a closed-loop pilot?

  • Can you use airspeed as feedback for your control loop?

  • When should you use the trim? Are there exceptions?

  • Can you fly accurately using only trim? If so, how? If not, why not?

  • What about crosswind technique?

  • What is roll/yaw couple?

  • Does the C172 have roll/yaw couple?

  • How does roll/yaw couple affect crosswind technique?
